A credit union in the region is planning a new corporate headquarters on a 38-acre site.

Parchment-based Advia Credit Union will break ground this spring on a 150,000-square-foot headquarters west of Kalamazoo, at the corner of West Main Street and M-43, in Oshtemo Township, according to Advia today.

“When we were looking at possible locations to build our new headquarters, Oshtemo stood out as the perfect fit,” said Cheryl DeBoer, president and CEO, Advia Credit Union. “It is a thriving area with a strong focus on community. It aligns perfectly with our core values and commitment to community, businesses and family finances.”

Amenities

The three-story building will have capacity for 460 employees, but it will initially house about 240 employees from 32 departments and include a branch, ATM and night deposit box.

The Advia headquarters will include leasable retail spaces for locally owned businesses on the first floor, as well as additional rooms for seminars, events and community outreach. Outdoor terraces will overlook a landscaped water feature.

DeBoer said the campus will include walking trails that connect to a pedestrian walk along West Main Street.

It will also have a 100-foot landscape buffer along the north and east property lines that abut residential areas, as well as a new access road running from east to west to allow for future development.

A traffic light will be installed at the driveway entrance off M-43 and West Main, and the campus’ drive will “most likely” be called Advia Way.

Firms on the project

Kalamazoo-based Byce & Associates is the project’s architect, designer and engineer.

Lansing-based Granger is the contractor.

Advia Credit Union

Advia Credit Union was founded in 2014 from a merger between First Community Federal Credit Union (founded in 1938) and E&A Credit Union (established in 1935).

The credit union provides personal and business banking services to more than 150,000 members, employs nearly 600 people and has 29 branch locations throughout Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin.

Advia has over $1.7 billion in assets.
