Nonprofit appoints chief campaign officer
A local nonprofit fighting homelessness has named a new fundraising leader.
Grand Rapids-based Mel Trotter Ministries appointed Tim Swiney to chief campaign officer, according to the nonprofit last month.
Swiney will lead Mel Trotter's fundraising campaigns in a separate full-time job from his previous full-time role as VP of development, according to Dennis Van Kampen, president and CEO, Mel Trotter.
Swiney said he will primarily be responsible for a future capital campaign. Mel Trotter is doing a feasibility study to determine the campaign’s details, so it is not ready to publicly share its purpose, Van Kampen said.
The development VP position “might” be filled in the future, but “not at this time,” Swiney said.
Whether Mel Trotter hires a development VP or director will depend upon experience and skills, Van Kampen said.
Swiney has held several fundraising roles at Mel Trotter since 2009.
Previously, Swiney has held similar roles at Degage Ministries, The Potter’s House School, Habitat for Humanity Kent County and Gospel Communications International.
