West Michigan employers rank among 'Top 100 Impact Companies'
A pair of West Michigan B Corps have been included in an inaugural ranking of "positive impact companies."
Cascade Township-based Cascade Engineering and Kentwood-based The Gluten Free Bar were named “Top 100 Impact Companies” today by Real Leaders, a sustainable business and leadership magazine, in collaboration with Big Path Capital and the nonprofit B Lab.
Cascade Engineering ranks No. 24, and The Gluten-Free Bar ranks No. 33.
The designation is given to “the top companies applying capitalism for greater profit and greater good,” according to Real Leaders.
“These companies are driving a dynamic segment of the economy, bearing a new vision of capitalism that demonstrates that every transaction is an opportunity for both growth and a better world,” the publication said.
The full ranking is available online.
To qualify for the “Top 100 Impact Companies” ranking, companies must be certified benefit corporations, or B Corps.
The rankings were determined by evaluating companies on their revenue, growth rate and B Impact Assessment to demonstrate how much good they’re doing in the world.
Founded in 1973, Cascade Engineering specializes in manufacturing large injection-molded plastic parts.
Its nine business units support a range of markets, including transportation, environmental services, office seating, material handling, polymer compounding and RFID asset management.
The company employs 1,900 people at 13 facilities in North America, with additional operations in Budapest, Hungary.
Cascade Engineering is a certified B Corp, recognized for advancing sustainable business practices that build financial, social and environmental capital.
