Wolverine Worldwide signs licensing deal with slipper company
A maker of footwear in the area is planning to roll out new lines of slippers for one of its brands after reaching a licensing agreement with a slipper company.
Rockford-based Wolverine Worldwide signed a three-year agreement with Minneapolis-based Minnetonka Moccasin Co. for Minnetonka to produce slippers for Wolverine’s Hush Puppies brand, according to Wolverine last week.
Minnetonka will produce men’s and women’s slippers for Hush Puppies with collections expected to launch this fall through the brand’s direct-to-consumer stores and e-commerce sites, as well as through department and specialty store distribution channels.

Scott Sessa, president of Minnetonka Moccasin Co., said the company is "leveraging over 70 years of expertise in the footwear business to bring handcrafted, timeless slippers to the Hush Puppies consumer."
Wolverine said the Hush Puppies slippers will be constructed from premium moosehide, suede leather and sheepskin “that can stand the test of time.”
The slippers for Hush Puppies will be priced from $40-$100.
Founded in 1946, Minnetonka produces moccasin footwear that is handcrafted using “fine materials," such as premium deerskin and leather products.
Founded in 1958, Hush Puppies is a casual- and comfort-focused footwear brand of Wolverine Worldwide.
The brand sells more than 17 million pairs of shoes every year in 165 countries.
Wolverine also licenses the Hush Puppies name around the world for clothing, eyewear, plush toys and more.
