Nearly 1,000 people are coming downtown this week for a real estate conference.

The Rental Property Owners Association, or RPOA, will host its annual Michigan Landlord & Real Estate Investor Conference this Thursday through Saturday at DeVos Place, 303 Monroe Ave. NW.

The free event will feature exhibitors and eight national speakers, plus a Q&A session with Jeremy Cole and Ramon Huerta, Michigan natives and stars of the new HGTV show “Gritty to Pretty.”

The conference provides “opportunities for local investors to connect with the experts and resources they need to make sound investments and maximize profitability,” said Clay Powell, director, RPOA

This year’s speakers include national real estate experts Jeffrey Taylor, Sue Nelson, Marco Kozlowski, Beth Carson, Scott Meyers, Alan Cowgill, Gene Guarino and Cameron Gaskill.

Speakers will discuss topics such as self-storage and mobile home investing, senior citizen housing, wholesaling, flipping, rehabbing, landlord-ing, Airbnb, purchasing notes and investing with little or no cash.

In addition to the presenters, there will be 10 breakout sessions discussing wealth-building strategies and techniques, updates on the real estate market by local experts and a “deal room,” where attendees can share deals they have available or find deals.
