A battery maker for the auto industry is hosting a job fair to fill 75 positions.

LG Chem Michigan, Inc., or LGCMI, will hold the event with on-site interviews on April 16 from 9-noon and 4-6 p.m. at its battery plant in Holland, at 1 LG Way.

“LG Chem Michigan works hard to offer a challenging and fulfilling work environment for our people,” said Nick Kassanos, president, LGCMI. “As the electrification of vehicles continues, we will continue to offer opportunities for career growth and advancement.”

The company aims to hire various types of workers, including an experienced production manager, technical operators, production engineers, journeymen electricians and maintenance technicians.

Interviews, with some on-the-spot offers, will take place in the plant’s west-end building.

Those interested in attending should complete an online application prior to the job fair.

The company is also accepting summer-only applications at this time.

LGCMI has increased the minimum starting hourly rate for technical operators to $16. The company now also offers a $500 bonus at 90 days and an additional $500 at 180 days.

In 2018 LGCMI created 300 new jobs, increasing to more than 800 employees.

LGCMI makes lithium-ion polymer battery cells and battery packs for electric vehicle and energy storage applications. It is a subsidiary of Seoul, South Korea-based LG Chem.
