Accounting firm leases suburban space

An accounting firm has leased 35,000 square feet in a Grand Rapids suburb.

BDO USA relocated its 211-person Grand Rapids Business Service Center to a newly renovated office building in Cascade Township, at 5300 Patterson Ave. SE, according to Franklin Partners, the building’s owner, today.

The team handles internal technology and professional needs for BDO.

The firm’s main Grand Rapids office is downtown, at 200 Ottawa Ave. NW, and handles client-facing accounting services.

“Our investment in this property has helped to cultivate an atmosphere where sophisticated tenants can deliver an exceptional workplace experience to help attract and retain talent,” said Don Shoemaker, partner, Franklin Partners.  

Communal amenities include on-site café and bank, a tenant-only fitness center and shared collaborative spaces.

“BDO was drawn to 5300 Patterson because of the open, bright and flexible space and on-site amenities, such as the tenant fitness center and full service café, which support our exceptional workplace strategy,” said David Stasiewicz, director of corporate planning and development, BDO USA.

“Numerous collaborative areas help to create a dynamic workplace for our people and also the opportunity to bring the whole office together. Our team is excited and getting acclimated.”

With the addition of BDO, the 140,000-square-foot building will be 95% occupied. Other tenants include Kellogg Global Service Center, Kellogg Community Credit Union, Maxim Healthcare and Varipro.

Mary Ann Wisinski-Rosely of NAI Wisinski of West Michigan, along Justin Decker and Mark Robbins of Avison Young represented BDO in the transaction.

Duke Suwyn, CEO of Colliers International West Michigan, represented Franklin Partners.
