Manufacturer investing $3M in expansion
A plastics supplier has decided to expand its operations in the region.
Vicksburg-based Miniature Custom Manufacturing, or MCM, a maker of injection-molded plastic parts for various industries, is investing $3 million in a 24,000-square-foot expansion of its manufacturing facility at 170 North Leja Dr., according to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, or MEDC, yesterday.
The company plans to move its warehouse and tool maintenance at the site into the expansion and convert its current warehouse space into a second manufacturing facility.
The project will create 37 jobs.
Michigan was chosen over a competing site in Indiana, MEDC said. The project ensures that 50 jobs located in Vicksburg are retained in Michigan.
MCM continues to secure “new customers in many industries and has several product launches planned for 2019 and 2020.”
MEDC approved a $175,000 performance-based grant for the project.
The village of Vicksburg also approved a property tax abatement.
