Glass company relocating operation to West Michigan
A commercial and residential glass company is relocating an out-of-state operation to West Michigan.
Kalamazoo-based Forman Glass is moving its fabrication operations from Ft. Wayne, Indiana to Comstock Township, at 8689 Krum Ave., according to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, or MEDC, this week.
The company is investing nearly $2 million to build a 25,200-square-foot facility that will include warehousing, fabrication and office space.
The move will create 20 jobs.
The company has outgrown the Indiana facility, where it manufactures window and entrance frames for its Michigan and Indiana customers.
Michigan was chosen over a competing site in Indiana.
“The location of our fabricating facility in Comstock Township will allow us to be close to our customer base and to tap into the highly skilled workforce of southwest Michigan,” said Richard Phillips, president, Forman Glass.
MEDC approved a $100,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant for the project.
Comstock Township has offered a property tax abatement for the project.
