Foundation appoints VPs
A community foundation in the region has named a pair of new vice presidents.
The Grand Haven Area Community Foundation promoted Holly Cole to VP of grants and program and Patty MacDonald to VP of finance and administration, according to the foundation last month.
“The GHACF kicked off our newly approved strategic plan in January,” said Hadley Streng, president of the foundation. “These organizational changes best align us to advance the three priorities to inspire philanthropy, manage investments and impact community.”
Cole joined the foundation in 2017 as the director of grants and program.
She is responsible for the comprehensive competitive grants program and oversees the foundation’s educational initiatives, including the Tri-Cities College Access Network and competitive scholarship program.
Previously, she was program manager for Community Food Club of Great Grand Rapids. She’s also held roles as development coordinator for Kids’ Food Basket and project coordinator for Campus Kitchen at Elon University, as well as roles at Kalamazoo Communities in Schools, Kalamazoo College and Fair Food Matters.
She holds a B.A. in human development and social relations from Kalamazoo College and an M.P.A. in nonprofit management and leadership from Grand Valley State University.
MacDonald joined the foundation in 2014 as the director of finance and administration.
She oversees all financial activities: including working with the investment advisor and external auditors; managing budget and financial processes; and day-to-day processing of gifts and payables. Patty is also responsible for human resources and general office administration.
MacDonald’s 30-year career has mostly been in finance. She previously worked for 10 years at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Catholic Parish Church in Grand Haven. She began her career in the international assignments department of Burroughs Corporation in Detroit.
She holds a B.A. in finance and financial management solutions from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
