A business publication has included three organizations in the region in a ranking of the nation’s best workplaces.

Inc. magazine today published its fourth-annual list of the “Best Places to Work” in the U.S., and Ada-based Michigan Software Labs, Grand Rapids-based Service Express and Kalamazoo-based Southwest Michigan First are named among the 346 honorees.

Employees surveyed were asked to rate their workplaces on benefits — such as paternity leave, unlimited vacation, paid sabbaticals, profit sharing and more — as well as on topics including trust, management effectiveness and confidence in the future.

“In a tight labor market, these businesses are out to nab top-performing employees by making life on the job ever more rewarding,” Inc. says in a post.

The full list is searchable by filters, including state, industry, company size and benefits — including parental leave, on-site medical and fitness, pet-friendly policies, tuition reimbursement and more.

Omaha, Nebraska-based Quantum Workplace surveyed 139,251 employees from nearly 2,000 employers of all sizes and industries.

Inc. gathered, analyzed and audited the data.

Quantum then evaluated the employers using a composite score of survey results. This year, 74.2 percent of surveyed employees are engaged by their work — besting last year’s 72.1 percent.
