HVAC contractor invests $700K in new space
A growing HVAC contractor has found a new home in town.
R&R Mechanical Services recently moved about a mile east to a newly renovated 8,000-square-foot building in Grand Rapids, at 433 Crofton St. SE. It was formerly based at a 1,500-square-foot building in the city, at 1721 Buchanan Ave. SW.
The refurbished building sat vacant for about five years prior to being purchased by Amplify GR in 2017. Previously, it was utilized for manufacturing and storage.
“We grew up, played and went to school in this community,” said Ruben Ramos, owner, R&R Mechanical Services.
“When we outgrew our previous space a few blocks away, it was vital to us that we remain in the same neighborhood and continue to serve the residents and businesses that have supported us for the last 10 years.”
The renovation project, led by Grand Rapids-based Rockford Construction, took eight months and a $700,000 investment by R&R Mechanical.
R&R has 32 employees working at its new home, and the firm plans to hire more.
“We have found tremendous talent in our own backyard,” Ramos said. “We are passionate about giving back in various ways but most importantly, by providing employment opportunities for all and offering access to careers through training and certifications for skilled trades.”
Jon Ippel, executive director of Amplify GR, said R&R Mechanical is “a great example of the type of community-centric businesses we hope to draw to the Boston Square and Cottage Grove neighborhoods.”
“As we strive to further invigorate abandoned buildings in Cottage Grove, we are committed to working with businesses that support the community’s vision to widen pathways for more residents,” Ippel said.
R&R Mechanical executives and employees serve the West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Madison Square Business Association and Mexican Heritage Association, among other organizations.
