Manufacturer expanding operations
A manufacturer in the region is changing its name and expanding to meet demand from its fastest-growing market.
Grand Haven-based R&R Fixtures — a division of Wotton-under-Edge, England-based Renishaw Group since it was acquired in 2012 — will change its name to Renishaw Metrology Fixturing Solutions later this year and move to a new facility in Norton Shores in early 2020.
A groundbreaking took place this morning last week at the site, at 5500 Grand Haven Rd. in Norton Shores.
“We are very excited to break ground on an exceptional new facility for Renishaw’s fixturing business,” said Drew Baker, general manager, Renishaw Metrology Fixturing Solutions.
“Supporting both our current technology roadmap and future advanced engineering plans, this new facility provides a platform that will enable continued growth with high standards of manufacturing.”
The site will house a 52,000-square-foot facility — three times larger than the current facility — that will allow Renishaw to increase manufacturing capabilities and continue expansion into the global market for metrology fixturing.
There will be space for research and development of new metrology fixturing products as well.
The “highly energy-efficient” facility will include up-to-date indoor air management and power distribution technology, as well as a 150 kW solar array to meet Renishaw’s “global commitment to environmental responsibility.”
The new building will also include a demo room for workshops, open houses and on-site product training.
