An out-of-state maker of human resources software has acquired a local payroll provider.

Huntersville, North Carolina-based MPAY acquired Cascade Township-based BenePAY this spring, according to BenePAY yesterday.

BenePAY, founded in 2008, also offers related tax and HR services and serves more than 2,000 customers across the U.S.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

BenePAY is being folded into MPAY’s Payentry brand, which provides payroll and human resource services nationally.

All BenePAY employees have been offered roles at MPAY.

BenePAY will continue to operate at its current location, 2959 Lucerne Dr. SE in Cascade Township, and maintain its presence in Michigan, Ohio and Florida.

“BenePAY is a natural fit with MPAY, because we share both a passion for service and commitment to helping businesses navigate the difficult landscape of payroll, HR and compliance,” said Geoffrey Duke, CEO, MPAY. “We are excited to bring additional technology and services to BenePAY clients, which will in turn help them hire and retain the best people.”

BenePAY has used MPAY technology as the foundation of its payroll services since 2008. MPAY was founded in 1994.

“Connecting our clients directly with the software development company will improve their ability to influence the design and functionality of the system and contribute to an even greater customer experience,” said Steve Aden, president, BenePAY. “We are excited about this opportunity.”
