Padnos acquires company
A West Michigan recycling business has expanded its capacity through a recent acquisition.
Holland-based Padnos said it recently acquired Howell-based Regal Recycling.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquisition includes the company’s locations in Howell and Whitmore Lake. Padnos will operate the former, while its partner company, Roseville-based GLR Advanced Recycling, will operate the latter.
“This move furthers regional consolidation and allows us to better serve our customers throughout Michigan,” said Jonathan Padnos, president of Padnos.
“Padnos views Howell as a vibrant and growing community, and we want to be part of that growth.”
Founded in 1905 by Louis Padnos, Padnos is a fourth-generation family-owned recycling company with 26 locations throughout Michigan and Indiana, including those operated by GLR Advanced.
The company recycles paper, plastics, ferrous and nonferrous metals, and e-scrap.
It has over 600 employees.
Founded in 1952, Regal Recycling is a wholesale scrap metal processing and recycling business purchased in 1993 by Vern Brockway.
In addition to scrap metal recycling services, the company offers nationwide transportation of rigging, heavy container pick-up and delivery service, used auto parts salvage, demolition, site clean-out and factory strip-out services.
It has more than 100 employees, according to its website.
