3-room hotel opens at lakeshore
An old train depot in the region has been transformed into a three-room hotel.
The Depot Downtown opened July 10 inside the former Grand Trunk Train Depot, 683 W. Western Ave. in Muskegon.
The owners are Brett and Jera Gilbert, who also own Fatty Lumpkins Sandwich Shack in downtown Muskegon.
The hotel’s three rooms have 14-foot ceilings and original hardwood floors, exterior doors, trim and exposed brick.
The rooms each have private entrances and bathrooms with “high-end fixtures,” as well as a wet bar with glassware and a mini fridge.
Two rooms have king beds, and the other has two queen beds.
The rooms connect internally for groups who rent more than one room.
A minimum two-night stay is required. Guests staying four or more days will receive maid service, and the owners are willing to accommodate guests’ specific needs.
Guests also have unlimited access to Lakeshore Fitness Center, 900 Western Ave.
The rooms are available for booking on AirBNB.
