Kellogg closing plant
ATLANTA — Kellogg Company is shutting down a frozen foods plant and laying off more than 100 workers.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports a business layoff and closure listing by the Georgia Department of Labor shows the Kellogg facility in Atlanta is due to close on Oct. 10.
Kellogg spokesperson Kris Bahner said there was no public announcement made, but the Battle Creek, Michigan-based company told stakeholders and employees about the closure nearly a year ago.
Bahner said the facility "does not allow for cost-effective expansion and growth of the business."
The closure comes after 181 Kellogg workers were laid off at a distribution facility in Union City, Georgia in 2017 and another 20 were laid off at the Atlanta facility in April.
