Nonprofit hires donor relations officer
A nonprofit that serves people experiencing homelessness has named its first donor relations officer.
Spencer Haworth began the role in May for Dégagé Ministries, reporting to Development Director Brooke Jevicks.
For many years, Dégagé Ministries has only had one staff fundraiser. In his new role, Haworth will be responsible for strategic oversight and development of church, school and corporate partnerships. In addition, he will work to develop and deepen relationships with new and current donors.
“The people of the Heartside neighborhood are often overlooked or overshadowed. Dégagé Ministries meets people where they are in their journey to help them take to the next step.” Haworth said. “I look forward to working alongside the team to build our base of supporters for a community who needs it most.”
Haworth brings with him more than seven years of fundraising experience, most recently with Make-a-Wish West Michigan and The Ability Experience in Charlotte, North Carolina.
“Spencer’s commitment to serving our patrons and building relationships in West Michigan makes him the ideal fit for the position,” said Marge Palmerlee, executive director of Dégagé Ministries.
Haworth has a bachelor’s degree in social science and history from Central Michigan University.
Haworth is on CMU’s Young Alumni board of directors. He is also a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals West Michigan.
