A major outdoor outfitter plans to open a store in Grand Rapids ahead of the holiday season.

Carhartt is set to open a new location at the Shops at CenterPoint, at East Beltline Avenue and 28th Street, according to Colliers International West Michigan.

The retailer — which offers work wear, outdoor apparel and gear — will lease 4,470 square feet next to T.J. Maxx and plans to open this fall

While Carhartt products are available at various retailers in the region, this will be the first Carhartt store to open in West Michigan.

Mark Ansara, VP and retail adviser at Colliers International West Michigan, and Earl Clements, a Colliers SVP, handled leasing for the property.

“We’re continuing to see retailers with an online catalog presence open brick-and-mortar locations,” Ansara said.

More than 88,000 cars drive by the Shops at CenterPoint every day, according to Ansara.

The Shops at CenterPoint is currently 93% occupied with 3,370-5,400 square feet of in-line space available. It also has additional business opportunities, including developable land and up to 30,000 square feet that could be used near Planet Fitness.
