Change Ups: Williams joins Miller Johnson as senior counsel

Fortified with more than 25 years of legal experience, Shoran Reid Williams joined Miller Johnson as a senior counsel in the law firm’s Grand Rapids office. Williams’ litigation experience extends into administrative law, civil litigation, appellate law, personal injury and family law. She has successfully obtained favorable results for her clients in state and federal courts and before government agencies. Williams’ reputation as a legal adviser for business owners in the emerging cannabis hemp industry or those working with businesses in the industry also is growing. 

AWARDS

Warner Norcross + Judd LLP attorney David Thoms was recognized with a Vanguard Award by the Nonprofit Organizations Committee of the American Bar Association because of his near 40-year career working with clients in the areas of nonprofit and charities law, tax law and trusts and estates. Thoms practices from the firm’s Kalamazoo and Southfield offices.

Battle Creek-based Gallagher Uniform earned the Textile Rental Service Association’s Clean Green Certification, making the company one of the only two certified launderers in Michigan.

Grand Rapids-based Small Business Deal Advisors announced the sale of its client Lenoir, North Carolina-based DogWatch of the Blue Ridge Mountains, which sells and installs pet containment and training products for 16 counties across North Carolina, to individual investors.

FOOD & BEVERAGE

Bell’s Brewery Inc. in Comstock celebrated the anniversary of its classic American IPA, Two Hearted Ale, which debuted in 1997 and was recently named the Best Beer in America.

Nancie Oxley, vice president/winemaker at Paw Paw’s St. Julian Winery, was named to the 2019 Class of 40 Under 40 from Sparta-based Fruit Growers News and Vegetable Growers News magazines.

FINANCIAL SERVICES

FormulaFolio Investments LLC announced it was named to the Inc. magazine’s 5,000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America for the fifth consecutive year.

Greenleaf Trust in Kalamazoo announced the promotion of Asa M. Davis to senior business process analyst. He is responsible for identifying business improvements and opportunities for organizational development.

LEISURE & RECREATION

Muskegon-based Michigan’s Adventure announced it plans to debut its new Peanuts-themed kids area, Camp Snoopy, for spring 2020, to please families with kids from toddlers to tweens. Camp Snoopy will feature five family rides, including a family-friendly roller coaster and beautiful natural landscaping with plenty of shaded seating and pathways.

Fifth Wheel Freight was ranked No. 804 on Inc. magazine’s annual 5,000 of the fastest-growing private companies.

Holland-based Holland extended its record as a winner in the Logistics Management magazine’s Quest for Quality awards for the 33rd year. Holland was honored with a 2019 Quest for Quality award in the South/South Central Regional LTL Carriers category.

MANUFACTURING

Rockford-based Nap Nameplates, a sister company of NapTags and Nap’s Dealer Supplies, recently announced and expanded lines of office name plates and door signs. Office name plates, door signs and nameplate holders are customizable in a variety of ways, allowing businesses to match branding and décor; conference centers and other public places easily can have interchangeable door signs that can be customized for varying needs; and new office sign product lines cover a wide range of signage uses, from slider signs to ADA-compliant tactile lettering and beyond.

Kitchen 67 recently introduced its concept of the grocerant movement that sells niche foods or groceries within its restaurant. Offerings include more than 30 freshly prepared take and bake entrées, sides, and grab-and-go salad and sandwich offerings, including a trio of gourmet PB&J sandwiches. The new MI K67 retail area also features offerings ranging from 67 Famous Steak Seasoning to homemade alolis and sauces like Beer Barrel Bourbon Ketchup, Ninga and Spicy Pickle wing sauces.

Ecobuns Baby + Co. in Holland announced its 10th anniversary as a locally owned retail store. The company offers a full-service baby registry, items for growing families, and classes and parenting groups.

SERVICES

National Nail's CAMO deck fastening brand reported Sean Collinsgru, founder of Premier Outdoor Living, LLC, in Palmyra, New Jersey, recently wrapped up a deck project right on time despite being plagued by heavy downpours and inspection backups thanks to the CAMO DRIVE standup tool and CAMO EdgeClips. He estimated it saved him half a day on deck board installation alone.

SPORTS

The 2019 Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give renewed its agreement with the LPGA and Blythefield Country Club for two more years, extending the tournament through 2021.

X-Rite Inc. and Pantone LLC announced the launch of its i1 Paint, an easy-to-use handheld spectrophotometer designed for paint manufacturers, paint retailers, hardware stores and home improvement retailers. Using the latest color-matching technology, i1 Paint provides a quality paint match for common customer samples, such as color cards, fan decks and other painted items.
