Founders releasing CBS for the 'last' time
Founders Brewing Co. is releasing a seasonal favorite for the "last" time.
The Grand Rapids-based brewery has announced the re-release of Canadian Breakfast Stout, or CBS, in 12-oz bottles and 750-ml bottles domestically.
CBS, an imperial coffee and chocolate stout aged in maple bourbon barrels, is the final release in the 2019 Barrel-Aged Series.
This is the third year in a row the brewery has released the stout, and there are “no future plans to brew it again.”
“This will be the last year I plan on making CBS, so get it while you can,” Founders Brewmaster Jeremy Kosmicki said.
“It’ll be missed in 2020, but I’m looking forward to bringing out some new barrel-aged releases.”
CBS was first brewed after Kosmicki stumbled upon bourbon barrels that had previously housed maple syrup. Adding the same base beer as Founders’ Kentucky Breakfast Stout, CBS was born, with a flavor profile of maple syrup, roasted coffee and chocolate and 11.3% ABV.
General admission CBS ticket sales begin on Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. Current Detroit and Grand Rapids Mug Club members should check their email for member-exclusive pre-sale details.
Pickup from both taproom locations begins on Oct. 25 and goes through Oct. 27.
CBS will be available in all markets on draft and in bottles beginning Nov. 1.
