A locally based global network of independent recruiting firms has acquired a similar firm.

Grand Rapids-based NPAworldwide purchased the assets of Menasha, Wisconsin-based Inter-City Personnel Associates, or IPA, effective Sept. 3, according to NPAworldwide last week.

“We are certain that the synergies between the members of IPA and NPAworldwide will create value for both groups,” said Dave Nerz, president, NPAworldwide.

“Clients and candidates of both networks will be better served. We will be better together than we were independently.”

Both networks, comprised of member recruiting firms, facilitate 50-50 split job placements, which NPAworldwide defines as “a placement that involves two separate recruiters, from two separate recruitment firms.”

The transaction brings NPAworldwide more than 60 new member recruitment agencies working with clients and candidates in manufacturing, food and dairy, engineering and multiple other industries.

Nerz said the acquisition will allow NPA members access to new markets, industry sectors, discounted recruitment services, meetings and trading partners.

Peter Romberg, former owner of IPA, will focus on other business opportunities but will remain a friend and contact for NPAworldwide and IPA members.

“I’m excited to welcome these like-minded recruitment firms to NPAworldwide,” said Bill Benson, board chair, NPAworldwide. “We have a very strong staff ready and committed to ensuring a successful transition. We are looking forward to increased split placement activity as the members of both networks work together. This is a win for all parties involved.”

This acquisition will increase NPA’s total member locations by about 11% and its revenue by the same rate.

NPAworldwide

Founded in 1956, NPAworldwide is a member-owned recruitment network facilitating candidate placements between its member recruiting firms.

The network has more than 530 member offices operating in 40 countries, with almost 1,500 recruitment consultants.

IPA

Founded in 1972, Inter-City Personnel Associates is a recruiter network that extends across the U.S.

The firm helps independent recruiters “serve clients and candidates better with members assisting each other in accomplishing 50-50 split placements” in which “no commission fees are paid to IPA.”
