A West Michigan health system has purchased land in a business park from a university.

Kalamazoo-based Ascension Borgess has purchased 8.2 acres of land from Western Michigan University for future development of Ascension Borgess outpatient services.

The land is a part of WMU’s Business Technology and Research Park 2, located west of Drake Road, east of US 131.

Strategic, operating and design plans to determine exactly what services will be included as part of this project are being finalized, Ascension said. More detailed information will be shared once these plans are complete.

“We are pleased at successfully completing this first step in yet another Ascension Borgess expansion initiative,” said Peter Bergmann, president, Ascension Borgess.

“We are committed to continuing to expand access to services that will provide compassionate, personalized health care for residents of Kalamazoo and our surrounding communities where, when and how is most convenient for them.”
