Wealth adviser is No. 2 on Barron’s ‘Top 100’ ranking
An investment strategist in the region has been ranked second in a ranking of the nation’s top independent wealth advisers by Barron’s.
The investment-focused publication owned by Dow Jones & Company, a division of News Corp., named Charles Zhang the No. 2 wealth adviser on its 2019 “Top 100 Independent Wealth Advisors” ranking, up from No. 6 in 2018.
The 13th-annual ranking was published last week.
Zhang is founder, CEO and a wealth adviser at Portage-based Zhang Financial, a fee-only advisory firm with total assets of over $3.5 billion.
The typical net worth of Zhang’s clients is $3 million.
Barron’s ranked Spuds Powell, of Kayne Anderson Rudnick Investment Management in Los Angeles, the No. 1 adviser this year. His firm oversees $29.5 billion in assets, and the firm’s typical client has a net worth of $20 million.
The ranking reflects the volume of assets overseen by the advisers and their teams, revenue generated for the firms and the quality of the advisers’ practices.
The scoring system assigns a top score of 100 and rates the rest by comparing them with the top-ranked adviser.
