Association names Excellence in Construction winners
The Associated Builders and Contractors Western Michigan Chapter recently announced the winners of its 33rd annual Excellence in Construction Awards.
The awards ceremony was held Sept. 19 at 20 Monroe Live, in downtown Grand Rapids.
The annual event celebrates the best in West Michigan construction and recognizes the most innovative and high-quality construction projects, safety efforts and craft professionals.
Neal Kooiman, site foreman for Feyen Zylstra, was awarded the 2019 Craft Professional of the Year. The award is given to an individual who raises the bar for professionals in their skill by exhibiting outstanding craftsmanship and leadership.
The winner for Safety Award of Excellence in the general contractor/construction manager category was CSM Group, and the Safety Award of Excellence in the trade contractor category was presented to Feyen Zylstra.
The Safety Award of Excellence identifies companies that demonstrate continued commitment to jobsite safety and strive to make these values an integral part of their day-to-day culture.
“The Excellence in Construction Awards program is the industry’s leading competition, developed to honor innovative and high-quality merit shop construction projects with awards presented to the top project in each category. The award honors all construction team members, including the contractor, owner, architect and engineer” said Norm Brady, president and CEO of ABC/WMC. “Construction industry experts served as the competition’s judges. This year’s judges include building trades instructors from higher education, city building inspectors, architects, engineers, construction managers and representatives from material suppliers. We congratulate and thank all of the participants for their dedication.”
