Physician joins health system’s suburban office
A health system has hired an internal medicine and pediatrics physician to join one of its suburban offices.
Metro Health – University of Michigan Health has hired Dr. Tandy Champion to join its Grandville office, 4285 Parkway Place.
Champion is dual-credentialed to practice internal medicine and pediatrics, allowing her to see patients of all ages.
“I enjoy this specialty because I can journey with patients through all stages of their life,” Champion said. “I like guiding parents through the growth and development of their children so they understand each milestone.”
An internal medicine and pediatrics physician benefits children who have chronic or extremely life-altering diseases, Metro said. Physicians like Champion are able to follow patients for their entire life instead of transitioning them to a different family practice physician. This is a niche specialty that Metro said it plans to continue growing.
Champion joins Metro Health Grandville after running her own private practice.
Her medical degree is from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and she completed her residency at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital.
Champion is a board member at the West Michigan Aviation Academy and said she has a passion for child development and mentoring of students at all stages of education. She also has earned a private pilot’s license since becoming a board member.
