Better Drinking Culture publishes ‘The Drinker’s Manifesto’
A Grand Rapids organization has released a book to help people make healthier choices when it comes to alcohol consumption.
Better Drinking Culture, or BDC, published its first book, “The Drinker’s Manifesto: Cheers to a Better Drinking Culture,” according to BDC this summer.
The book was written by Jason Ley, the CEO of Better Drinking Culture. BDC is a public benefit corporation focused on “shifting our culture’s relationship with alcohol in a healthier and more positive direction.”
“The Drinker’s Manifesto,” released in June, is geared toward “college-age novice drinkers and binge-drinkers” and also “respects non-drinkers and the sober-curious.”
BDC said it is not “anti-alcohol,” but it believes that alcohol “should be a choice, not an expectation.”
BDC advocates for “a more mindful approach” to alcohol consumption and making moderation “aspirational.”
Better Drinking Culture's goal is to sell 4 million copies of “The Drinker’s Manifesto.” On average, 4 million people turn 21 annually in the U.S.
BDC hopes to reach its goal with the support of those who have “a vested interest in the health and safety of the next generation.”
