A technology firm in the area is planning to expand its office and double its staff.

Michigan Software Labs plans to invest $840,535 to add 7,500 square feet to its office in Ada, at 452 Ada Dr. SE, and add 27 jobs over the next few years, according to The Right Place yesterday.

It currently employs 28 people.

The firm chose Michigan for the expansion project over competing offers in Denver, New York City and Austin, Texas, The Right Place said.

“As our clients continue to grow and evolve, we intend to serve them best by growing along with them,” said Mark Johnson, co-founder and managing partner, Michigan Software Labs.

“Organizations are increasingly seeing how technology can serve their customers and grow their businesses. Developing the right custom software gives companies a clear market advantage.”

The Right Place, an economic development nonprofit in Grand Rapids, worked with the firm to ensure the growth occurred in the region.

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation approved a $108,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant for the project through the Michigan Strategic Fund.
