Machine shop expanding
A West Michigan machine shop is growing.
Aquest Machining is investing $1.3 million to expand its space in Greenville, at 715 Callaghan St., by 7,500 square feet and planning to create 12 jobs, according to The Right Place last week.
Michigan was chosen over a competing site in Indiana.
Aquest Machining is experiencing continued growth and plans to expand into sheet metal fabrication to diversify in the marine and recreational vehicle industries. The addition will allow for expanded operations.
The Right Place, an economic development nonprofit in Grand Rapids, worked to ensure the company continued its growth in the region.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation, or MEDC, approved a $60,000 Michigan Business Development Program grant through the Michigan Strategic Fund for the project.
The city of Greenville has also offered a 50-percent property tax abatement in support of the project, according to MEDC.
Aquest Machining was founded in 1996 and primarily operated in the cutting and machining of aluminum extrusions.
The company now works with a variety of materials, such as steel, plastic, copper and brass.
In recent years, Aquest has seen sales growth and increased its workforce by nearly 40%. It currently employs 27 people.
It was acquired by the Greenville-based manufacturing holding company FabX Industries in 2018.
