Manufacturer investing $2.1M in operation
A maker of specialty polymers is planning to expand in the region and create 28 jobs.
Easton, Pennsylvania-based Polytek Development Corp. plans to invest $2.1 million for new equipment at its existing facility in Comstock Township, at 1458 S. 35th St. in Galesburg, according to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
The company has made recent acquisitions of individual manufacturing companies and facilities throughout the United States, including in Indiana, California, Florida and Oregon, as well as Alumilite Corporation in Comstock Township, according to documents from the MEDC.
The company needs to consolidate and expand its operations to allow for additional work, the MEDC said.
The MEDC awarded Polytek a $112,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant for the project. Michigan was chosen for the project over a competing site in Indiana.
Polytek is a manufacturer of specialty polymers that are used primarily in mold making and casting applications for the industrial, construction, entertainment, consumer, fine arts and technology sectors.
