Uniform company completes $850K expansion
A textile rental company for various markets has opened a new facility in northern Michigan.
Kalamazoo-based Continental Linen Services, or CLS, hosted a ribbon cutting last month for its new 6,000-square-foot, $850,000 facility at 1539 Plett Rd. in Haring Township, which borders Cadillac.
The company moved into the new facility in mid-October.
CLS has had a presence in Cadillac since 1982, and the new facility is located just a few blocks away from its previous leased facility.
The new branch serves as the depot and sales location for CLS’s 1,000 customers in the northwestern Lower Peninsula.
“CLS Cadillac has grown very nicely over the years. It’s a testament to the relationships we have fostered,” said Kurt Vander Meer, president and co-owner, CLS. “With the addition of our new location, this allows us to provide even better service for growth for many years.”
Added Sarah Wrubel, SVP and co-owner: “The new building represents our commitment to our team members in northern Michigan. They have been steadily growing the business to the extent that they outgrew their previous space. Giving them a new facility will encourage their continued growth mindset.”
Marion-based Dracht Construction was the project’s general contractor.
CLS has been a family-owned textile business since 1899.
In addition to its Kalamazoo headquarters, it has locations in Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, Cadillac, Saginaw, Detroit and Alpena, with a total of 240 employees.
The company serves nearly 7,000 customers across Michigan.
