Ronald McDonald House hires executive director
A nonprofit that provides free room and board to families with children receiving medical or mental health treatment has a new executive director.
Ellen Carpenter began the role this month for the Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan. She is responsible for the overall leadership and strategic direction of the organization.
Carpenter has spent the past nearly seven years at Heart of West Michigan United Way, most recently as VP of donor strategy and engagement. Prior, she was VP of marketing for Lake Michigan Financial Corporation. She’s worked for several other companies, including Perrigo and Amway.
Carpenter spent nearly seven years as a RMHWM board member and chair.
“Ellen’s knowledge and love for the House and her track record of strategic thinking and effective relationship development will be key as the RMHWM looks forward to exciting growth in the coming years,” the nonprofit said.
Carpenter is a board member for the Chamber Choir of Grand Rapids and volunteers for Degage Ministries and God’s Kitchen. She’s been involved with several other organizations over the years, as well.
Carpenter has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Michigan State University and training facilitator certification from LUMA Institute.
