Law firm hires director of business development

A local law firm has expanded its staff.

Grand Rapids-based Thacker Sleight hired Troy Butler as its director of business development, according to the firm last week.

Butler has 20 years of experience in finance, banking and business development.

Prior to joining Thacker Sleight, he was the market executive for ChoiceOne Bank. Butler was instrumental in establishing the bank’s Grand Rapids office. He also led a team of community bankers in the city.

Butler started his career as a commercial credit analyst at Old Kent Bank. He focused on middle-market commercial and industrial, investment real estate, private banking, SBA and business banking.

He is a member of The Economic Club of Grand Rapids, Commercial Alliance of Realtors, Building Owners and Managers Association, Greater Regional Alliance of Realtors, Home Builders Association and Grand Rapids Chamber.

He holds a B.A. from Michigan State University and an M.B.A. from Western Michigan University.
