Grand Rapids can help if your New Year’s resolution is to find a job.

Personal finance website WalletHub today published a ranking of 2020’s “Best Cities for Jobs,” and Grand Rapids is No. 59 out of the 182 most populous cities in the U.S.

To determine the best job markets in the U.S., WalletHub compared 182 cities — including the 150 most populated U.S. cities, plus at least two of the most populated cities in each state — across two key metrics: job market and socioeconomics.

A heavier weight was assigned to the former, as that category is said to “most heavily influence a job seeker’s decision” of where to move.

Thirty-one factors were considered under each metric, such as employment growth, starting salary, job satisfaction and security, median annual income, housing and transportation affordability, and more.

Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the most favorable conditions for job seekers.

Weighted averages were given across all metrics to calculate each city’s overall score and the resulting scores were used to rank-order the sample.
