The North American subsidiary of a global supplier of compressed air solutions acquired a local distributor.

Charlotte, North Carolina-based ELGi Compressors USA Inc., a subsidiary of Coimbatore, India-based ELGi Equipments Limited, said it acquired Grand Rapids-based Michigan Air Solutions, which also has a Plymouth office, from the company’s owner, Tim Montsma, last month.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Both office locations, 4511 Clay Ave. SW in Grand Rapids, and 9123 General Ct. in Plymouth, will be retained, as well as the company’s 22 employees, including its general manager Lisa Lewis.

“ELGi’s acquisition of Michigan Air is a continuation of our strategy to invest in select, inorganic opportunities to gain presence in the North American market,” said David Puck, president, ELGi North America. “With ELGi’s robust product portfolio and Michigan Air’s customer centricity, we are confident of building a strong foundation for market growth in the Midwest.”

Lewis said she and her team are “excited” to move forward under ELGi’s ownership.

“We recognize ELGi’s commitment to manufacturing products with best-in-class reliability and ownership cost,” Lewis said. “Matched to Michigan Air’s proven customer service, we will create a formidable team.”
