Accounting firm adds three partners
A locally based independent accounting firm added three partners to its roster.
Grand Rapids-based Beene Garter said Jan. 16 that it promoted Josh Garvey and Lisa Pohl to the role from within the firm and hired Derik Rynearson for the position earlier this winter.
The addition of Garvey, Pohl and Rynearson brings the firm’s number of partners to 17 and staff members to more than 100.
“Josh, Lisa and Derik are all very talented professionals, and I am excited to have them in leadership roles at our firm,” said Tom Rosenbach, managing partner of Beene Garter.
“Derik and Lisa’s extensive knowledge of tax strategy and compliance is invaluable for our clients. And Josh’s experience with business technology solutions is incredibly important for our outsourcing services — one of our fastest-growing service lines. Expanding our partner team deepens our offerings to our clients, which strengthens their organizations and the West Michigan community.”
Garvey oversees Beene Garter’s software and outsourcing services practice, which includes Sage Intacct software, payroll, accounting outsourcing and retirement plan services. He has over 18 years of experience working with software integrations and technology solutions for businesses.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration degree in e-commerce from the University of Phoenix and an MBA from Northwood University.
Pohl has more than 15 years of experience as a tax professional. She brings extensive corporate litigation and public accounting experience to Beene Garter. Her specialties lie in state, local and international tax strategy and tax filing compliance.
She earned a BBA degree in accounting from Baker College and a Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University’s Cooley Law School.
Rynearson has more than 17 years of experience in public accounting. His expertise includes identifying research and development credits, as well as IC-DISC consulting and compliance for small businesses, manufacturers, and food and agribusiness companies.
He earned a B.S. degree in accounting and an M.S. in accountancy from Western Michigan University. He also earned an M.S. in taxation from Golden Gate University.
Founded in 1949, Beene Garter is an independently owned accounting firm that provides a variety of services to businesses and nonprofits in West Michigan, including tax, audit, payroll, accounting outsourcing, succession planning and other consulting services.
