Coming off of a storm of activity in 2019, Woodland Mall announced its latest lineup of new and first-to-market retailers for 2020.

Champs Sports, a major North American specialty sports retailer, will be the first of four stores to open at the mall, followed by Aéropostale, Sephora and White House Black Market.

These new retailers continue the momentum of Woodland Mall’s $100 million redevelopment, which most recently included the opening of the Von Maur wing and The Cheesecake Factory in fall 2019.

Champs Sports plans to open a 5,800-square-foot space in the JCPenney wing of the mall on Jan. 31. The retailer carries brands such as Nike, Jordan, Adidas, Reebok, Under Armor, Beats by Dr. Dre, Converse, G-Shock, Oakley, Puma and New Era.

“Champs Sports is a fantastic fit for Woodland Mall and our shoppers,” said Cecily McCabe, Woodland Mall marketing director. “Michiganders are always looking for activewear and gear to enable us to enjoy all four seasons. Guests will now be able to find those top athletic brands all in one place.”

Aéropostale will join the mall in The Cheesecake Factory wing next to Pac Sun in March. The international specialty retailer will offer casual apparel and accessories for young women and men within 3,700 square feet.

Woodland Mall previously announced Sephora and White House Black Market in 2019, according to an earlier Business Journal report. The two specialty retailers now plan to open in April and May, respectively. Both will be located in the Von Maur wing next to the relocated Williams-Sonoma and feature new store prototypes.

“We look forward to welcoming Aéropostale, Sephora and White House Black Market to our expansive selection of stores and eateries,” McCabe said. “All three retailers offer a variety of products to fit every shopper’s needs, further growing our list of well-known destination retailers and heightening the Woodland Mall experience.”
