Zingerman’s co-founder to keynote lunch event
A local staffing firm is planning a luncheon that will feature the co-founder of a multimillion-dollar food enterprise based on the state’s east side.
Ari Weinzweig — co-founding partner of Zingerman’s Deli in Ann Arbor and its parent, Zingerman’s Community of Businesses — will be the featured speaker at Express Employment Professionals of Grand Rapids’ “Managing Ourselves” lunch and training workshop from noon-2 p.m. March 12.
The event will take place at Grand Valley State University’s Eberhard Center, at 301 W. Fulton St. in downtown Grand Rapids.
“We are so excited to welcome Ari to West Michigan and for the collaboration with Grand Valley State University to help make his visit and this event possible,” said Janis Petrini, owner of Express Pros of Grand Rapids.
Weinzweig’s talk will be based on his bestselling book, “Zingerman’s Guide to Good Leading, Part 3: A Lapsed Anarchist’s Approach to Managing Ourselves.”
The author co-founded the Zingerman’s Deli in Ann Arbor in 1982, and Zingerman’s Community of Businesses has grown up around it. The company now includes a dozen businesses that employ 700 people with $65 million in annual sales.
Weinzweig is a popular speaker, traveling globally to share the Zingerman’s approach to business and leadership. He previously gave a talk at the Grand Rapids Economic Club.
The event is open to the public.
Tickets, $125, will be limited to the first 70 people.
Admission includes a copy of Weinzweig’s book.
