Amazon is hiring for its Gaines Township fulfillment center ahead of opening day.

Amazon is now hiring for more than 1,000 full-time positions ahead of the official launch of its more than 855,000-square-foot fulfillment center at 4500 68th St. SE in Gaines Township.

The company expects the new fulfillment center to open within the next couple of months.

In addition to a $15 minimum wage, Amazon promises full-time employees comprehensive health care from day one, 401(k) with 50% match, up to 20 weeks paid parental leave and Amazon’s Career Choice program, which pre-pays 95% of tuition for courses in high-demand fields.

Job candidates must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent to be considered.

Interested candidates can apply online at http://www.amazon.com/grandrapidsjobs where they can indicate a shift preference and select an appointment time to attend an upcoming hiring event and orientation.

Amazon plans to invest $150 million in the new fulfillment center, according to an earlier Business Journal report. Atlanta-based Seefried Industrial Properties is serving as third-party developer for the project.
