Eye care company opens 56th office
An eye care company opened a new Kalamazoo office.
Rx Optical opened the office Jan. 23 in the Exchange Building, 155 W. Michigan Ave, in downtown Kalamazoo.
The new location is in response to the growing need to accommodate Rx Optical’s patient base within the Kalamazoo region, the company said.
“This ideal location allows us not only to work closely with our community but also other local business partners, including PlazaCorp and Chemical Bank, who have a firm base within Kalamazoo,” said George Jepson, Rx Optical vice president and chief operating officer.
The newly constructed 15-story, 345,000-square-foot Exchange Building includes 60,000 square feet dedicated for commercial use.
Rx Optical worked with AE Design Solutions of Jackson for the build-out of the 779-square-foot space, as well as Portage-based architect Meyer C. Weiner Company.
The new location provides eye exams, eye-glass fittings, eye-care solutions for adults and children, contact lens fitting, and frame adjustments and repairs. Rx Optical manufactures all lenses at its Kalamazoo lab.
Rx Optical participates with vision insurance plans from local businesses and will submit insurance claims on patients’ behalf. Those without insurance also may qualify for Rx Optical’s Vision Advantage Program. A full list of major insurance providers Rx Optical accepts can be found online.
Founded more than 70 years ago, Kalamazoo-based Rx Optical employs more than 350 people in 56 offices in Michigan and Indiana.
“We are proud to continue our history of measured growth and are looking to cities and towns that we feel are currently underserved,” Jepson said. “Rx Optical has projects in the works for 2020, including the opening of new locations and planned remodels of existing offices.”
