A local law firm has added new partners with an emphasis on beefing up its presence on the east side of the state.

Varnum LLP elected five new partners: Katie Roskam, Mallory Field, Kevin Macaddino, Sam Vitale and Sarah Wixson.

Roskam is the only one based in Grand Rapids.

“Our slate of new partners this year reflects the firm’s growing presence in the southeast Michigan region,” said Varnum Chair Ron DeWaard, noting that four of the five new partners are based on the other side of the state. “Each of these attorneys is an exceptional practitioner, and we are pleased to welcome them to the partnership.”

Roskam has been practicing at Varnum for nearly seven years. She is a tax attorney at the Grand Rapids office who focuses on business tax, international tax, executive compensation, qualified plans, international tariff and sanctions issues.

She also has legal experience in real estate, estate planning, qualified opportunity zones, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, employee benefits, health care and other matters.

Roskam earned her L.L.M. in taxation from Northwestern University School of Law, her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and her B.A from Hope College.

Field, Macaddino and Vitale all practice at the firm’s Novi office. Wixson is based in the Ann Arbor office.
