A food maker in the region was included on a list of the world’s top companies for “business integrity and corporate citizenship.”

Battle Creek-based Kellogg Company was named one of the 2020 “World’s Most Ethical Companies” by the Ethisphere Institute. This is the 12th time Kellogg has made the unranked list in its 14-year history.

“Congratulations to everyone at Kellogg for earning this recognition,” Ethisphere CEO Timothy Erblich said. “This is a moment to acknowledge the leaders working to advance corporate cultures defined by integrity and affirm those companies contributing to broader societal imperatives and the greater good.”

In 2020, 132 honorees were recognized on the list, spanning 21 countries and 51 industries.

Kellogg is the only West Michigan-based company to receive the recognition.

“We’re honored that Ethisphere has again recognized our company’s legacy of integrity and doing what’s right,” said Gary Pilnick, vice chair, corporate development and chief legal officer. “We are committed to maintaining a values-based, ethical performance culture, and we continuously review our code of ethics to ensure it reflects the world we live in.”

Methodology

The World’s Most Ethical Companies list is based on the Ethisphere Institute’s proprietary ethics quotient (EQ) framework, an assessment process that includes more than 200 questions on culture, environmental and social practices, ethics and compliance activities, governance, diversity and initiatives to support a strong value chain.

All companies that participate in the assessment process receive their scores and insights into how they stack up against leading organizations.

The full 2020 list of honorees can be found at worldsmostethicalcompanies.com/honorees.

Best practices and insights from the 2020 honorees will be released in a report and webcast in March and April of this year.
