Decide or die
"You gotta make decisions. You gotta keep making decisions, even if they're the wrong decisions, you know. If you don't make decisions, you're stuffed." -Joe Simpson, “Touching the Void” film
Joe Simpson found himself at 25,000 feet of elevation with a badly fractured leg on the face of a mountain no human had ever climbed — then things got worse.
Joe fell into a deep crevasse and somehow survived the fall. While laying in agony, he saw that the crevasse went deeper. Unable to climb up, he made the morbid decision to climb down. It worked! He found light and then an exit. He had a slim chance of survival, but he had a chance.
Days and days later with no food or water, he made it to the bottom and found his hopeless climbing partner at base camp.
What a timely reminder that family movie was for me last Sunday night. When you are going through something difficult or — worse — impossible, keep going. Keep making decisions, even if they may be the wrong ones — you might just find enough light to keep you moving forward.
Inward. Onward. Upward!
