Brewery's beer benefits nonprofit
A brewery in the area has made a beer to raise money for a Grand Rapids nonprofit.
Comstock Park-based Perrin Brewing Co. brewed Gilda’s Cherry Saison, which will raise $1 for every pint sold at the taproom, at 5910 Comstock Park Dr., for Gilda’s Club of Grand Rapids through the end of October.
Gilda’s Cherry Saison is made with Michigan Montmorency cherries and is dry hopped with dried roses.
Support of Gilda’s Club began in Grand Rapids in 1996, with the official Grand Rapids chapter opening in 2001.
Support for the organization helps provide free emotional health care for children, adults, families and friends who suffer from cancer in their lives. The programs are supported by donations and gifts.
Perrin Brewing Co. was founded in 2012 and brewed more than 14,000 barrels of beer in 2015 after being acquired Oskar Blues Brewery. A barrel is about 31 gallons.
The new ownership team began packaging products and out-of-state distribution.
This year, the company expects to brew more than 27,500 barrels of beer.
