Guiding Light Christmas Meal
12/23/18 12:00 pm EST
255 Division Ave. S
Grand Rapids, MI
Guiding Light is seeking help from donors and sponsors to help provide Heartside neighbors with the resources needed to host this year’s Christmas meal.
The Grand Rapids-based organization is asking donors to give $1.94 to provide dinner for one person this Christmas, while a donation of $20 will provide a holiday meal to 10 men and women who might otherwise go without. The meal will be offered to guests free of charge on Sunday, Dec. 23 at Guiding Light, 255 Division Ave. S., from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Guests will be served a Christmas meal of ham, vegetables, rolls, salad and an assortment of desserts. Each year, Guiding Light’s holiday meal attracts more than 300 community members, including members of Guiding Light’s addiction recovery and back-to-work programs, who are supported by staff, volunteers and neighbors.
Donations beyond the suggested meal cost of $1.94 will provide shelter, education and spiritual care to Guiding Light residents this winter. Donors are invited to write a personal message of hope and goodwill on an ornament that will be used to decorate Guiding Light’s Christmas tree. The ornament will be given to one of the guests during the Christmas meal.
