Come learn and honor Dr. King at the 33rd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Celebration. With powerful keynote speaker, Dr. David Stovall giving a speech: "Dr Martin Luther King Jr. and the Radical Imagery of Justice."
David Stovall, Ph.D. is a Professor of African-American Studies and Criminology, Law, & Justice at the University of Illinois at Chicago. In addition to his duties as a professor at UIC, he also volunteers as a social studies teacher at the Greater Lawndale/Little Village School for Social Justice from 2005-2008.
This event honors Dr. King and his legacy, educates community members about his ideals and compels both institutions and individuals to take positive actions regarding education, racial justice and equality. This event is FREE to the community, with a first-come, first-serve basis for seating. Parking is available at the GRCC Bostwick Ramp.
Doors open: 5:30 pm
Celebration begins: 6 pm
